Inspiration from An Unknown Source

Portrait Revolution by Julia Kay

Portrait Revolution by Julia Kay

As a photographer, normally, I'd focus on other photographers and learn from them. I'd learn their techniques, understand the mistakes they've made in hopes of not repeating it, as well as taking their techniques and improving it.

With Portrait Revolution, it's from the perspective of an artist. Ironically, it has given me clarity on how to best photograph a portrait depicting emotion and life. At first, I thought "how is this book going to help me?" and it's not until I sat down and went through each page with an inquisitive mind and open heart, I was able to take nuggets from every page to improve my work.

As an artist, if you ever feel stagnant, pick a subject and engulf yourself into it. I guarantee that you'll find the inspiration you need. Would I recommend this book to a fellow artist/creative? Yes!

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. However, reviews are my own.
